On the 22nd of December the HLC hosted a HAF ( Holiday and activities food program event) . The event was for local children who were eligible for benefit –related school meals between the ages of 8 – 14yrs.
Each eligible family were issued a booking code from Buckinghamshire council via their school and used this to secure their place at the event.
The aim of the program was to support the physical and mental wellbeing of children and young people in the area, encouraging them to engage in interactive and fun activities and provide them with a healthy hot meal.
The event was held in the Walton Court Community Centre from 4pm till 8pm.

On Saturday 10th July 2021, the HLC opened its gates for our annual Summer Fayre! As last year’s Fayre was cancelled due to the Covid Pandemic we were determined to make this Fayre the best we could for our Community!
Throughout the day we offered FREE taster sessions for the younger community to enjoy. We had Boxing and Yoga sessions and offered our newly built Sensory room to be explored by the children. We also offered children’s activities in our on-site nursery as well as a FREE bouncy castle. All activities went down extremely well and we have had some lovely feedback!
We had a number of stalls in our courtyard including World of Wax wax melt stand, St Johns Ambulance offering demonstrations and advice, Live Well Stay Well offering free health checks, our local councillors had a stand as well as Community Grow, who have been working with the local community offering gardening opportunities for Walton Court and the surrounding areas. We also had a Henna stand, Raffle and Tombola, all of which went down a storm!
We had a visit from The Mayor of Aylesbury, Cllr Anders Christensen at 2pm who got involved and was tasked with digging up the first crop of potatoes from our community garden!
We would like to say a big thankyou to everyone who came and supported our Fayre! After a tough year we wanted to make sure we offered a Fayre for all to enjoy!

When the Healthy Living Centre team spoke with hundreds of local residents about the community, there was real concern about the volume of rubbish that littered the area. Some residents were concerned that if our local green spaces didn’t appear to be looked after, developers might be given permission to build.
Having listened to these concerns, the Healthy Living Centre team arranged a community clean-up as part of The Great British Spring Clean. On Friday 22 March, we were joined by the local PCSO and an enthusiastic team of teachers and students from Pebblebrook School. Thank you to all of these wonderful #litterheroes!
In 90 minutes, we filled 10 bags of rubbish from the green areas surrounding The Healthy Living Centre and Walton Court Shops. We hope that children, dog walkers and other members of the community will be able to enjoy these local spaces a little more, now that the majority of litter has been removed.
Please, can you help us to keep our green spaces tidy by using the bins or taking your litter home? We want to take great pride in our community.
It was blowing a gale on the morning of Saturday 27 April, but that did not deter the Healthy Living Centre team. Joining the Aylesbury Park Run, a group of us ran or walked the 5k route.
Whilst we do like to actively promote healthy living, we were inspired to take part in this group activity to fundraise for a delightful girl, who attends the Big Bear Nursery.
Kaysey is a sociable, determined and bright 3 year-old, who brings a smile to nursery every day. She has strong opinions and a love of imaginative play. She is keen to join in with songs, colouring, story time and music. Casey is also wheelchair bound as a result of a rare condition known as Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
In order to live life to the full, Kaysey needs specific equipment, including a specialist wheelchair that will give her greater independence. Our team took on the 5k challenge in order to fundraise and offer this little girl a better quality of life. We are delighted that our efforts have raised over £2300, but there is still time to donate.
We’d like to thank everyone who took on the fundraising challenge, as well as the people who generously donated to support Kaysey. It was a fantastic team effort, which will make a big difference to her family.
