On the 22nd of December the HLC hosted a HAF ( Holiday and activities food program event) . The event was for local children who were eligible for benefit –related school meals between the ages of 8 – 14yrs.
Each eligible family were issued a booking code from Buckinghamshire council via their school and used this to secure their place at the event.
The aim of the program was to support the physical and mental wellbeing of children and young people in the area, encouraging them to engage in interactive and fun activities and provide them with a healthy hot meal.
The event was held in the Walton Court Community Centre from 4pm till 8pm.
- 4-6pm – A disco was held in the Walton Court Community Centre: this consisted of physical activities with a ‘dance off’ party games, face painting, balloon animals and face jewels. Then, there was a visit from Santa and an educational Christmas gift was given to each child.
- 6-7pm – The children had a full hot 3 course Christmas dinner , where seconds were offered and excepted by most!
- 7-8pm – We had activities in the sensory room, making Christmas cards and reindeer food to take home.
- A total of 13 children attended this FREE event.
